There will be dinner and a little history of the Great Migration from 1915-1919.
The speaker, Ronald E. Howell, currently retired, volunteers at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, Downtown, Springfield Inc. will speak about this first wave of black southern migrants who came north during World War I. Chicago was the mecca that beckoned irresistibly with the promise of freedom, and it is important to stress the fundamental role Chicago's citizens and institutions played in this movement.
The Menu is buffet of herb roasted pork loin, herb roasted boneless chicken, vegetarian pasta marinara served with coffee, mixed field greens salad, homemade poppyseed dressing, fresh rolls, chef's fresh vegetable and garlic mashed potatoes.
