"Reintroducing children and families to nature"

Children have their whole lives ahead of them to play video games, watch TV and talk on cell phones, but they only have a few years to climb trees, splash in puddles, and scramble and climb over rocks as they learn about the natural environment around them.​

Utilizing the concepts of "Leave No Child Inside," a Chicago Wilderness initiative, the Arroyo Trails project aims to provide outdoor recreational opportunities for children to develop physical strength, coordination and balance. The interactive discovery stations have been carefully designed and are intended to promote social skills, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving, a sense of self and others, as well as many other life skills all through imaginative play and a connection with nature.
