Adult Seasonal Flu Shot Clinic
MORRIS, IL – The Grundy County Health Department provides information about adult seasonal flu clinics, offered by appointment on Wednesday, October 21, 10:00am – 12:00pm. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
Grundy County Health Department is offering adult seasonal flu vaccine by drive-through appointment on
Wednesday, October 21 from 10am – 12pm. Regular dose is available for those residents 18 years and older, and the high dose is available for residents 65 years and older. Each is quadrivalent, which is designed to protect against four different flu viruses, including two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses. Please visit the CDC website to learn more about the 2020-2021 flu vaccine composition.
This drive-through clinic site will be in the parking lot of the Grundy County Administration Building, located at 1320 Union Street, Morris. The vaccine will be administered in the shoulder through the car window, so residents are encouraged to wear clothing that provides easy access to the shoulder area without having to the exit the vehicle.
The cost of the seasonal flu vaccine is $73, and the Health Department is able to bill this cost to Medicare,
Medicaid, each Managed Care Organization (MCO) and BCBS PPO. Payment information is requested when making the appointment so as to reduce exposure during the clinic.
Interested adults should call 815-941-3404 to schedule an appointment and provide payment information.
Pneumonia and other vaccines for adults are offered by appointment at the Health Department. Please inquire by calling 815-941-3404.
Seasonal flu vaccine for persons 6 mos – 17 years of age will be available beginning in October by appointment at the Health Department. Residents may call the Health Department for a child flu shot appointment. According to the CDC, it is more important than ever to get a flu shot this year. It is anticipated that flu viruses and the virus that causes COVID-19 will continue to spread this fall and winter. Healthcare systems could be overwhelmed treating both patients with flu and patients with COVID-19. The potential of becoming co-infected with both flu and COVID-19 is concerning to healthcare professionals. While getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, there are many important benefits, such as: flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization and death; and getting a flu vaccine can also save healthcare resources for the care of patients with COVID-19.
